Tamrin Rogers was born on the 4th of October 2000 in Pretoria. “This is actually a funny story. I never saw myself in the photography industry, I saw myself as a soccer player or fashion designer.” Tamrin is now a qualified photographer at Oaksfield College, her graduation was supposed to take place in this month but due to the pandemic it got postponed.

She never had a passion for photography but she saw herself as a soccer player or a fashion designer. “At young age I’ve been around with my aunt that has a thing for photography, from there I was expected to take pictures. As years passed, I saw myself wanting to go into the soccer industry with my love for fashion.” Tamrin grew up as a quiet child, she was separated from her whole family that stays in Johannesburg while she and her parents stayed in Pretoria. “It wasn’t easy for me living in Pretoria simply because I didn’t connect with a lot of people here due to their different ways.”
Throughout her high school years she was bullied “throughout my high school years I was bullied as well in Grade 8 and 9 which I kept to myself, I went through a tragic downfall (personally wouldn’t speak about it) as well and it affected me into being suicidal and depressed. Always questioned the Lord why I had to go through what I went through.” Though she was bullied, in Grade 10 she could finally choose her subjects and she choose Arts as one of them. She became one of the top Arts students “that eventually boosted my confidence. On the side I was still being bullied, but this time I didn’t allow anything to get to me. I kept myself positive and kept telling myself that one day I will be successful, finally started gaining a connection with the Lord, always seeing the good out of the bad situations.”

At the age of 17 in 2017, she got her first actual camera “I was given my first actual camera and no lie I was excited.” In 2018 the year she matriculated, she started doing small events such as banquets, baby showers, confirmations and family gatherings and started making money for herself through photography. In the year 2019, her love for photography had grown way more than her love for soccer and fashion. “My family saw how I felt towards photography and how my mind expanded through that direction.” With her family’s support they gave her the opportunity to study photography at Oaksfield College “this course honestly boosted my confidence, knowing what I want for myself and that was to be a photographer. This whole experience made me see that the most unexpected things in life turns out to be the blessings within ones life.”
She has her own brand Tamrin R Photography and her goal is to own her own mini studio “it’s something I’m trying to achieve at the moment, hopefully work with others who have amazing talent and others with small businesses.”
Her other goal is to uplift women and tell her story of her downfall in 2014. “I would love to open up completely and have women keep their heads up, know their worth, to be selfish with themselves and to know that things happen for a reason, a reason we might not understand right now, but will eventually make sense as days or years go by.”
Last but not least she is putting God first in everything she is trying to achieve. “ is to put God through everything I do, to continue praying, asking Him to protect my family especially he ones I don’t see everyday and asking Him for protection and guidance towards what I’m trying to achieve.”
Tamrin is someone that really motivates me with her ambition, strength and her drive as she is a young lady who went through a lot but kept her head up and kept pushing herself to be successful and her love for God is amazing. We are so proud of you Tamrin, working hard to achieve your goals and assuring us that your first love for something isn’t always your passion or where your future lies. We hope to see your work all over South Africa and we here at FemaleWRLD wish Tamrin all the best with her journey and we are praying on her come up.
