Cheremene Borens- Monday Motivation 10/2

Chermene Borens was born on the 12th of April 2000 in Pretoria. "I've always had the freedom to express who I am be it through different hairstyles or just dressing on trend. My parents always gave me that." Borens is now a qualified MUA.

She has always had a passion for art but never thought she'd be able to pursue a career in it "becoming older I didn't think their is a career that would pay enough in the art industry so when I had to choose my subjects design had to unfortunately go. I had my mind fixed on becoming an accountant until Matric." . Borens matriculated in 2017 and took a gap year "I'm very outspoken and colourful an being an accountant wasn't going to fulfil my purpose so I went with my gut and said no to university. During my gap year I found myself through art again." Borens then challenged herself and channeled a different degree of art which was makeup. Borens decided this is what she wanted to do despite her father not liking the idea of makeup he saw how happy it made her and let her pursue in it. Borens did a international professional makeup course which taught her the history of make and allowed her to express herself outside of her comfort zone

"I want people to feel good about themselves be it for a few hours. I want to be the person that makes makes someone have a better day."

Borens says she has a 'go to spirit' and that once she starts something she has the urge to perfect it. She has started her brand Makeupbychermene and her goal is to become a household name.

"I want my brand to be for the people. I want my brand to represent women of all colour but with that I want to uplift the coloured kid and let them know you can do and become anything your heart desires you just have to work hard and love it, overall I want my job to be a happy place and with beauty I'm at my happiest."
